SOUTH EAST

The south east is a large area, both geographically and economically. Often the south east is referred to when comparing national incomes, taxes paid per capita, etc. This is largely because the south east is the most affluent area in UK encompassing the “commuter towns” that provide the “human resources” to work in the vast metropolis of London.

To the south of the region is Kent, stretching from south of London to the south cost with its channel tunnel access and ferry terminals for road transport into France and the European mainland. The area of Kent is also a fantastically rich area of natural beauty and diversity with much history including cathedral towns such as Canterbury and other historic areas such as Tonbridge.

The south East also contains within it most of the UK’s larger airports including Heathrow, Gatwick, Stanstead and Luton. Due to these superb transport facilities and proximity to London the local economy is very strong and will probably remain this way for many generations to come.

Overall the south east is a strong economic area with a huge diversity of history, commerce, and of course, property prices.
